usability research

Prompted by feedback from existing users and from prospective clients, I conducted research about computer users' tolerance for system delays. To summarize the collected data into a useful form for software developers, I created a series of materials for their reference.

A laminated card was given to each developer involved with product performance. One side had a timeline-style chart showing the range of opinions and study results about how long users are willing to wait for the system to respond and finish the task. The other side showed a sampling of common user actions within our system and the correct response times, categorized into three major zones.

The cards were distributed during a presentation that I gave to the developers, explaining the process and results of the research.
