All Moved In
Yep, October has been quite a “moving” month for us. We are pretty well settled in here at our new place. Want to go on a tour?
We are in the “orange door” neighborhood within the complex, the purpose of which is defeated a bit by the fact that the red doors and coral doors are on either side.
To the right of the door there is a utility closet which we refer to as The Garage. This extra storage has saved our sanity as we’ve moved our stuff into a smaller living space.
October was a nice move-in month for this place because of the beautiful red trees on the property.
Here’s the kitchen:
As you can see, it has a window, which is a vast improvement over our last apartment. Here’s that view:
One drawback is no dishwasher (shoot!). BN made me these magnetic hook critters to hang extra dishtowels on. Cute, huh?
Left: Some moving boxes still need to be upacked…
Right: My trusty workstation.
Here’s the living room:
Out back is a balcony, with our plants, who can’t believe their luck now that they get plenty of sunlight all day (on the sunny days, of course.)
We actually have a really nice, open view. There’s the track, with all kinds of interesting people running on it throughout the day, and beyond some more sports fields and the road, with houses and trees on the hills beyond. We’ve seen some nice sunsets this month.
Some other nice things that happened this month:
My birthday! BN got me some lovely flowers.
And, a surprise visit from my grandparents. They had been in Seattle visiting some of Grandma’s family and they parked their trailer for one night in Eugene on their way back down to CA. It was fun to see them and show them our new place. They had JP with them and the 5 of us went out for dinner. After that we sat cozily in the trailer and played Skip-bo and ate ice cream. Just like old times!
It looks really nice and light with lots of sunshine. I love those hooks that BN made, adorable! 🙂 Oh and I’m sorry about no dishwasher.
I really think your new place is cute. It’s great that your plants get more sun now, and that you have a cool orange front door. You should do some serious people watching out back on the balcony:)
Looks lovely Katie!
Ice cream and skip-bo with Grandpa and Grandma? I remember those days. What fun!
I love tours! I’ve never seen the inside of one of those apartments before, they’re very nice. I’ll just bet your plants are in shock, you lived in the hills before, no?

How nice that you have a view and sunshine to boot. Is your new apartment unit rather new? Your kitchen looks cool, and from your photo it also looks like it’s adjacent to your living room. maybe on the same wall as the rose chairs.
You guys could have some fun targeting joggers with pee shooters.
I also love those beautiful red-leafed trees. It makes me happy that you have a window in the kitchen. I am, as you are, I think, in the kitchen a lot, and I love being able to see my roses as I work.
I am baby sitting Miss Ginger Beagley this weekend. Ginger is Justin’s and Michelle’s 10-month-old puppy. Ginger is a lot of fun, and because I’m so willing to play with her she’s also more work than she needs to be. I took here for a walk in the rain today, which meant I had to towel dry her afterward. I wouldn’t want her mom to be mad at me for letting Beagley get sick. Beagley especially likes it when I heat up a towel for her bed. Gee, how come no one does that for me!
Bye for now, and enjoy your new home.
Love,
Mom A.
Dear Katie,
I forgot to wish you a happy birthday. I remembered it was in October, but I forgot what day. Tell me what day you turned ____.
We are going to miss you on Thanksgiving.
