Smoothie Season…

…is off to a delicious start. Here’s my basic formula, with all kinds of possibilities for variations:

Smoothie (approx. 24 oz)

1 frozen banana, broken into chunks
6 medium frozen strawberries
2-4 T frozen orange juice concentrate
1 cup plain yogurt
1-2 cups soy milk

Put the ingredients in the blender, starting with the frozen stuff. Pour in the soy milk last, filing up to almost cover the other ingredients. Start with the “ice crush” button to break up the frozen chunks and then blend until smooth, adding more soy milk if it’s too thick.

I also love frozen mangoes, peaches, pineapple, raspberries, or blueberries. For extra decadence, experiment with coconut milk, flavored yogurt, limeade or lemonade concentrates.
